Hobsons Bay City Council has a rich history of supporting arts, cultural, community, sporting, tourism and special interest events. From neighbourhood initiatives to major events, Hobsons Bay supports a diverse and expanding calendar of events that create vibrancy and contribute to making the city a great place to live and to visit.
Events and festivals play an important role in fostering a strong sense of community, local pride and cultural identity and provide a greater understanding and appreciation of where we live. They can generate a range of tourism and economic benefits, helping build the profile of our city and showcasing its key attributes.
To support the sustainability of the events program, and to ensure events and festivals can continue to evolve and meet the needs of the community, Council has developed the Hobsons Bay Events and Festivals Plan 2016-2021.(PDF, 836KB) The Plan provides a strategic direction for the development of events and festivals in and provides a framework for decision-making and planning. Information on progress and outcomes for the first year of the Plan, can be found in the Year One Progress Report(PDF, 834KB).
Aligned with the Plan, is the Events and Festivals Funding Policy(PDF, 558KB). The Policy outlines the principles, criteria and process for the allocation of Council funds to events and festivals.
